Best newborn photographer Grand Junction

Looking for the best newborn photographer in Grand Junction, Colorado?

Are you searching for the best newborn photographer in Grand Junction, Colorado? Someone who understands how precious your family is to you and will capture each of those most precious newborn moments in photos that you’ll cherish forever? Look no further! We’d love to chat with you about how Ablaze Photography might just be the perfect fit for your growing family.

Keep in mind that photographers are on a spectrum of sorts, and it can be difficult to compare services and product apples to apples. In fact, it’s often like comparing an apple to a baseball! To help you navigate the next steps in finding the best newborn photographer for your family, here are a few things to consider:

First, safety training.

More than anything else, you need to know that your baby will be safe during his or her time with a newborn photographer in Grand Junction. Yes, you’ll be standing right there watching throughout the session to make sure things seem to go okay… but what about that super cute pose you saw on Pinterest? Is a newborn strong enough to prop his or her head up under their sweet little fists on their own? Does that wrap look comfortable?

Rest assured, I have up-to-date certification in newborn safety handling and am certified by APNPI. In addition, I have been photographing newborns for 8 years and also have four kiddos of my own! Read more about our studio and safety here.

No matter what style you’re after, your photographer needs to be properly trained to ensure that your baby is safely posed and dressed (or adorned with props). Before setting a session date with any photographer, PLEASE (I beg you) ask about their approach to keeping your baby safe and back out if things don’t feel comfortable.

Second, style.

Do you like the latest trends or do you prefer the more traditional approach? In studio photos or do you want the best newborn photographer in Grand Junction, Colorado to come to your home and capture shots of you snuggling that tiny baby in your grandmother’s rocking chair?

This is the perfect time to do a quick Pinterest search to get a feel for the photos you like and those you’d rather just skip. Once you know what you like, start looking at your potential photographer’s portfolio. Every photographer can try something new, but most have developed a preferred style and you can generally expect your session to follow suit. If your preferences don’t line up with what you see in a portfolio, it’s time to move on to the next option!

Third, read Google reviews.

Reading Google reviews before selecting a newborn photographer is crucial for ensuring you choose someone who is not only talented but also trustworthy and experienced in handling delicate newborn sessions. Reviews offer real-life insights from other parents who have already worked with the photographer, giving you a clearer picture of their professionalism, patience, and ability to create a calm and safe environment for your baby. They can also highlight the photographer’s communication style, turnaround time, and overall client experience—important details that aren’t always visible in a portfolio. Taking the time to read reviews helps you make a more confident, informed decision during such a special season of life.

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Ablaze Photography for our newborn photos, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. From the very beginning, she showed incredible care and understanding—especially given that our baby arrived prematurely. She was flexible and kind, going out of her way to make the process easier for us during a time that was both joyful and overwhelming. The studio atmosphere was calm, quiet, and soothing—perfect for our little one. Her gentle approach instantly put us at ease, and she handled our baby with such confidence and tenderness. It was clear she’s not only an exceptional photographer but also someone who truly understands and respects the delicate nature of working with newborns. The lighting was beautiful—soft and natural—capturing all the tiny details we’ll treasure forever. Her professionalism shone through at every step, from communication to the final gallery. We never felt rushed, and she made sure every shot was just right. We’re so thankful for the memories she’s captured and would wholeheartedly recommend Ablaze Photography to any new parents. She’s a true artist with a heart for what she does.

Fourth, packages and pricing.

The packages and pricing of the photographer are also necessary. Be sure you’re clear with all the details. Do they charge a session fee, and what does that include? What products do they offer and what do those cost? Do you want digital images to download, or do you prefer to receive ready-to-hang wall art? What about a photo album? These are all important details to know before hiring your photographer.

Here at Ablaze Photography, there’s no Gatekeeping! I have a session fee of $150. This is applied towards your final package purchase and covers your session time in our beautiful Grand Junction Studio. I work with an assistant, and we will photograph your baby and family for approximately two hours. We offer a huge client closet for our families to utilize if they would like. We have an enormous selection of newborn and baby props for your session. And Lastly we have a beautiful sitting area stocked with all the goodies and Supplies you’ll need for your visit, including Disney+, Hulu, Netflex, Cold beverages, snacks, diapers/wipes, and toys for little siblings!

Our Photo Packages start at $350; the average client typically spends about $1200. (They typically swoon over their gallery and can’t leave an image behind!) We offer full-resolution digitals, wall art, and albums!

Fifth, when you’re searching for the best newborn photographer in Grand Junction, be sure to check their availability ahead of time.

Having a baby is one of those things allows for time to plan many things. Of course, you may not know the exact day and time that baby is going to arrive, but you have a general idea, and you need to make sure that your dream photographer has time available on their schedule!

Keep in mind that those gorgeous squishy newborn photos are often taken within the first ten days of baby’s life. This means that you need to have someone ready to go as soon as you head to the hospital! (No pressure, right?! Lol.)

Checking with your photographer well in advance can help alleviate the pressure involved in scheduling. You’ll typically provide them with your due date, and they’ll schedule a session day and time (or three) that may work for you. Having some flexibility is ideal but having a target date and time will help both you and your photographer to create the best session possible.

We’d love to chat with you about each of these five items and how Ablaze Photography just might be the best newborn photographer in Grand Junction, Colorado for you and your family.
